July and August are peak season. For quiet, June and September give you the same sea with far fewer people, and off season the alleys belong to locals.

How to reach Burgas

Burgas has an airport (Sarafovo), a railway station and bus stations in the centre, with the Sea Station at the far end of the Sea Garden. It is rare in Bulgaria for four kinds of transport to sit this close together — the station and the centre are a short walk apart.

That is why the city works as a starting point for the whole southern coast, not only as a destination.

How the city is laid out

Picture Burgas as a line: the sea and the Sea Garden on one side, the centre right behind them, then Lazur and Vazrazhdane, then Slaveykov, Izgrev and Zornitsa. Meden Rudnik is the furthest and the largest; Sarafovo and Kraymorie are coastal and separate.

That layout explains much of daily life here — why the centre is walked rather than driven, why some neighbourhoods function on their own, and why distance to the sea is the main difference between them.

Summer changes everything — traffic, opening hours, crowds, coastal prices. Off season the city shrinks back to its normal size.

The practical consequence: do summer things early in the morning or late in the evening, and postpone everything else until after mid-September.
